Publication Ethics

The Journal of Information Technology, Management, Behaviour, and Analytics (JITMBA) is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in all stages of the publication process. The journal follows the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects all authors, reviewers, and editors to adhere to these principles. The following ethical guidelines outline the responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process:

1. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere. Any use of others' work or ideas must be properly cited. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable and will result in the rejection of the manuscript.

  • Data Accuracy and Integrity: Authors are responsible for ensuring that all data presented in their research is accurate and complete. Any manipulation, falsification, or misrepresentation of data is considered unethical.

  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of all sources and contributors is required. Authors must cite all publications that have influenced their research or are relevant to the study.

  • Authorship Criteria: Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research should be listed as authors. All co-authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission.

  • Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation or outcomes of their research.

  • Multiple or Redundant Publication: Authors should not submit the same research to more than one journal simultaneously. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals is considered unethical.

  • Human and Animal Rights Compliance: Research involving human participants or animals must comply with ethical standards, and the appropriate approvals must be obtained. Authors should ensure that informed consent has been obtained for any studies involving human participants.

2. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and must not share information about the manuscript with anyone other than the journal's editorial team.

  • Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, with no personal bias. Reviewers should provide constructive feedback that helps authors improve the quality of their work.

  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify any relevant work that has not been cited by the authors and notify the editor of any substantial similarity between the reviewed manuscript and other published papers.

  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must decline the review if they have any conflicts of interest that could affect their ability to provide an impartial evaluation. This includes any personal, financial, or professional relationships with the authors.

3. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Fairness and Impartiality: Editors must evaluate manuscripts solely based on their academic merit, without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, or institutional affiliation.

  • Confidentiality: Editors must ensure that all information related to submitted manuscripts remains confidential, sharing details only with the corresponding author, reviewers, or other editorial board members involved in the manuscript's review.

  • Publication Decisions: The Editor-in-Chief has the responsibility for deciding which manuscripts will be published. This decision is based on the reviewers' recommendations, the manuscript's relevance to the journal's scope, and its overall scientific merit.

  • Conflicts of Interest: Editors should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have conflicts of interest due to personal, financial, or professional relationships with the authors. In such cases, another editor will be assigned to manage the manuscript.

  • Ethical Investigations: Editors should take reasonable steps to investigate any ethical complaints or concerns raised about a submitted or published paper. If misconduct is confirmed, appropriate measures, such as a retraction or correction, will be taken.

4. Responsibilities of the Publisher

  • Editorial Independence: The publisher of JITMBA respects the independence of the editorial team and ensures that editorial decisions are not influenced by commercial or financial interests.

  • Archiving and Accessibility: The publisher ensures the long-term availability of published articles through proper digital archiving systems and guarantees open access to all published content.

5. Dealing with Misconduct

  • Allegations of Misconduct: JITMBA takes all allegations of misconduct seriously. The journal will follow COPE guidelines in investigating and responding to allegations of plagiarism, data falsification, and other forms of unethical behavior.

  • Corrections and Retractions: If an ethical violation or significant error is discovered in a published article, JITMBA will issue a correction or, in severe cases, retract the article in question to maintain the integrity of the scientific record.
